I didnt think the forums were busy enough for trolling to take place, these are the quietest forums ive ever encountered.

If we’re talking about that other thread, then I think the point here is most forum regulars simply took it as a trolling post (based on track record), not a real serious concern.

Don’t forget this post: http://graphicriver.net/forums/thread/why-are-people-so-impressed/65551?page=5#579367 But laughing is positive, right?I only skimmed the topic but it seems that the moderators have forgotten their own rules….
Some trolling here has been really funny, but other times it just pisses you off when the tone of thread is serious and you want to have a proper discussion about envato. If you want to troll, why not go to the off topic section?
The positive part was a reference to the other thread where people keep preaching about being positive.

I love people trolling around here – can’t tell you how many times it brought a smile to my face after a crappy day at work![]()
Id like to think my trolling brings a smile to others
......
on topic: trolling is going to happen on every forum .
the question is what is really defined as trolling, about 10-30% of my post could be considered troll post, but the rest are me actually helping people, not complaining, IMO creating threads to complain about anything is trolling(even this topic) because it seem that draw negative responses from other in community then turn into “wars” because well were all typing here theres absolutely no depth in the conversations you can’t hear my tone a voice, Im screaming this on the top of my lungs can’t you tell?
the fact of the matter is if it bothers you that much quit coming to the forums, id like to think a lot of the regulars on the forums joking with each other is quite comical
also referring to the thread on topic.. well click recent post and see why most went that way
p.s Kingdog ran .2 miles in three months aka his fridge isn’t far from his desk
These are my thoughts on this subject:

Trolling (in my opinion) is purposely trying to start a fight. Going off-topic or posting images is far from trolling in my books.
So while it’s nice to try and keep a thread on a central topic, we are not going to police the forums so that every post follows a strict guideline of rules. Threads evolve organically and I think we would do a disservice to our community if we get too heavy handed with the moderation.
Our Mods and myself included want to have fun on the forums and we enjoy a good opinion thread. If that means an awesome image of Patrick Stewart, I’m all for it

Make it so
There is also a big difference in trolling a serious thread where people discuss a real topic or trolling in a thread that is nothing but a troll thread in the first place and only was created to stir things up and make people feel bad.
I dislike the first, but trolling a troll never hurt anyone

my hero…......
so if I add a legitimated post to the end of my troll would it still be trolling?
I think more of the annoyance on forums isn’t the joke posts, its when you see a thread like this with 50+ comments but you scroll down and a buyer or a new author is asking for help and its getting ignored/overlooked by regular users or staff
p.s its not happening right now just an example of something that happens more often than not
