Can I use that font ?

Hi guys , just found a font and I wanted to know if I can use it in my new theme , this is the liscence : http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/deed.en_US

It looks like you can, but sometimes the person that creates something under a license can add “don’t use in commercial use, personal use only”.

The page says it is free to use. It does indicate whether or not it is free to use for commercial use.

The page of the font says the creator chose the creative commons license that he links to in the text. Now creative commons licensing has many options, free for use, free for non commercial use, free for distribution… etc.

The creative commons license he went with states anyone is allowed to:

• Share – to copy, distribute and transmit the work
• Remix – to adapt the work

As long as the person using the font provides:

Attribution – You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work).

With a note stating:

Notice – For any reuse or distribution, you must make clear to others the license terms of this work. The best way to do this is with a link to this web page.

So yes, I think if you credit the font author and provide a link, you’re good to go.

little side note though, you should probably voice this in a text document and add it to your file, then let the reviewer know that licensing permission is explained in this document.

Just so you dont have to worry about rejection.
