Thanks
Is there an author who would be willing to make a package for me that would include the bumpers, transitions, etc. that ESPN does? Here is a YouTube link that shows a lot of the things I’m looking for.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UL-DQYu2dgwI want to be able to change the elements so that instead of SportsCenter, Did You Know, etc. it has my text, logos, etc.
If anyone is interested in creating such a package, please let me know what you could include, how long it would take, and of course how much it would cost. You can send me a direct message via my user ID if you like (powercat1).
Here is some inspiration for creators:
1.) Check out the “Who Knew” video series that is produced by Yahoo (look through their archive for previous samples). They have a unique style:
http://news.yahoo.com/who-knew/Using this for inspiration, you could create a mix-and-match kit, featuring multiple presentation elements that end users could change.
In other words, create a project package or packages that allow end users to easily make their own output similar to this “Who Knew” style. It is very appealing.
2. Flexible text-focused packages are a hot ticket now. I won’t name the company, but we all know one “juicy” stock media company that is well known for putting out stock video and graphic compilations on DVD – and they are selling a lot of after effects text-centric “kit bundles.” In their case, the bundles have multiple projects that consist of several segments each, and can be used for openers, general promotion, etc. The key is flexible, interchangeable elements that are easy to change.
It’s been mentioned before that the more flexible your projects are – and the more customizable the individual elements are – the more potential buyers you will have.
As a buyer what do I want?
As far as this section 1: Latest post should be FIRST … I had to go all the way to 15th page see the latest post…
As Far As Projects: 1:Help File Most of the help files video there is no audio, as a buyer we have watch the video tut’s, catch that cursor movements… Authors fly thru steps.. I personally stop every second of video tut. to catch up… Go easy on video tut. STEPS …
2: Demo Files: Some of the demo files are miss-leading. For example: 1- “News Ticker Elements HD with Alpha” thinking ticker included it after purchase turned it did not. It only contain color band.. 2- “Camera Grid Pro Bundle” advertise in demo focus anywhere, after purchase turned out it was the grids…
It should be clearly itemized in description what’s not in project.. Also RENDERING time should be included…
3- Envato logo: Buyer can’t really see the actual project till they buy it.. Because envato logo center of the action in demo files… It should be somewhere in the corner…
Projects: 1- Some of the projects too LONG … Forexample, logos. openers.. Fox tv, CNN , ABC, CBS etc. openers less than 10 sec.. When I see 35-45 sec project with 500 MB size, I stay away… Need short projects.. Or short version of the projects…
Payment: Paypal payments there is extra $2 dollars charge, I think thats not fair… I purchased well over 10 projects. That extra $2 dollar with 10 purchase I could have purchased another $20 dollar project…
What I do with videohive files? I do mostly video clip commenteries. Right now this what I THINK as a buyer…if it’s matters…
Other side of the token: VideoHive excellent place.

Yes, some of us read more than you think. I personally always do video with voice tutorials, I don’t know for others.
Rendering time is impossible to include, since we do not know your configuration, and if we put our rendering time, it doesn’t mean anything to you, since everyone has different configuration, so as regarding this, it’s pretty impossible, at least for me. I saw some authors do that, though.
Envato logo, I guess you’re refering to videohive logo. It’s there for protection, but I agree, for after effects project files it’s not so much of a must, only for stock footage and motion graphics section, but we are obligated to watermark our projects, otherwise our items would be rejected.
For long projects I kinda agree, but it depends on what type of project you’re making. If I’m making infrographics/typography style project, it’s impossible for it to be 10-15 seconds; if news intro scene, I agree, 10-15 seconds is more than enough.

Hi Jon,
Thanks for the feedback. We are listening. A lot of authors already do many of the things you suggest – although watermarking is compulsory and file duration is a matter of taste /requirement. The best projects are scaleable in length as well as content.
Video tutorials have always been an optional extra. Partly because the prices at VH are very low and the planning, recording, editing and compressing of a decent video tut can take a day for a complex project. Not everyone’s prepared to take that time risk for a file that may only sell a few times.
Sometimes, authors that do have a video will have a link to the video user-guide / user-guide on-line or even a short demo of it in the preview, so buyers can get an idea of what they’re letting themselves in for before they part with their hard earned cash.
To avoid the $2 excess on files. You need to charge up your account and pay from that. It’s not specifically a Paypal thing. I suppose you should look at it not as a $2 fine for not having an account, but as a $2 discount for having one / being a return customer. But I have to admit, I’m not entirely sure why it exists.

Thank for your responses..
- As a beginner, video with audio help file is a plus for a project for me…
- Rendering time changes I agree, still around numbers still would be helpfull.
- I agree not all project could be short but what I have observed majority of files long.
- videohive watermark is a obligation I understand that also, but being center of the action, I find it not the right place… It can be placed 4 corners.
- $2 dollar paypal charge I’m still against it as a returning customers! I purchased well over 10 projects, still paying extra $2, add paypal charge, $3 dollar project becomes $6 dollars. I still think it’s not fair.

Hey Jon, something to notice when you are buying a file is if it is in the “motion graphics” category or in the “After Effects Project File” category. 99.9% of the time motion graphic files only have exactly that, a motion graphic video file. Make sure you check the description as well… it should say in the description if an after effects file is included in the motion graphic file.
Also I never realized that there were so many project files with video tutorials without audio. Shocks me actually. All of mine are in english since being from the states it is only natural. I’ll see if I can ask around to add an option to the detail with the option of text tutorial, pdf tutorial, html tutorial, video tutorial no audio, video tutorial with audio. Hopefully envato agrees and we add the info in the details.
I’m not necessarily after one now, but a nice old fashion split screen, ala The Thomas Crown Affair
