just stay away from hp

I don’t know why people hate on HP so much, I had a laptop and a desktop by them and never had a single issue with either. Although I have not tried any of their new products so cant speak there.

I got one of their loaded desktops around 2004 and I ran that thing forever! I did add some memory and a larger hdd, vista upgrade over time but other than that it ran bone stock with no problems for about 6 years of use until I built something way more powerful to replace it. It still runs right now as a test server for apache modules I am working on. As for the notebook I did not use it much but when I did I never had any problems. It was the larger DV series with the 18” widescreen and the media remote. Also still works, just put windows 7 ultimate on it yesterday and it flys.

I think the trick with HP like any other big box computer company is to remove the bloatware that comes on the computer. For Dells I would just start from scratch with a new windows install but that’s just me :D

I had a Compaq Presario from Best Buy (HP).. It was a good computer until i fell asleep on the couch with the laptop plugged in, left on, and sitting on a pillow. The next day, the wireless internet didnt work. After doing some research, it turns out a lot of people ran into this factory defect.. it’s caused by overheating and the solution was to replace the motherboard. So I sold it without wireless networking.

Surprised no one has mentioned Alienware.. Yeah, Dell owns them but its not like a Dell at all.. it doesnt come with any software you dont specify, it’s the same price as Macbook Pro but WAY more capable.. Turns out it’s pretty rugged too..

Other good high-end computers:
  • BOXX
  • Malibal

Dell Precision is good too.. so is Sony Vaio, Toshiba, and IBM /Lenovo Thinkpad… just stay away from eMachines, Acer, compaq… ASUS and HP are a gamble in my opinion.

Also suggest Ideapad y570.

All the HP laptops I can remember have heat issues (different models and series).

Just about any macbook will do the job.

If you go Mac (which I personally recommend) be sure to keep an eye on Macrumor’s buyers guide – it’s been 200 days since the last update, a new one is due around September-October, perhaps earlier as they might update it with (or right after) the OSX Mountain Lion release (which is promised “summer 2012”). :)

Having said that; if you need it now, just go ahead and buy it. Personally I always plan these kind of purchases a few months ahead, though, as I hate the feeling of a new release when you’ve just purchased the older model at the same price :sarcasm:

Guys Regarding for MAC do you think its very expensive to the work of web design, I think Asus Will be cheaper and have powerful feature like 3D graphics card with Core i5/i7.

What do you think.

I can’t speak for the rest of the world but the issues I had with this company provided enough logical reason to hate them. Off course who owns HP, owns some other companies I may consider reliable so in the end they will lose nothing. I’m not selling computers of any kind so I don’t care if someone buy Samsung, Apple or Dell or whatever. Just based on my experience with HP, my advice is to avoid them at this moment.

Actually since we are in competition here, maybe every one of you should buy an HP. If you lose time repairing your workstation you don’t upload stuff on the marketplace. :)

Buy HP NOW !

a Dell Q17R is the model I use and would recommended all day long

I have kerataconus so the 17” screen is essential, but its really very crisp and a lightweight machine.

MBP is not only a product, it comes with a union lifestyle ideology, the things you may not notice at first but you’ll find and love them in time. having a Visually and Mentally organized computer helps you to create better stuffs, it’s a fact.

I’ll suggest you go with a MBP . if you can wait couple of month, it’s most likely to see the new generation of Macbook Pro.
