The Bargain Basement is Dead. Long Live the Bargain Basement…. don’t let the door hit you on the way out!
I’m glad it’s gone, hopefully for good. The next step should be to increase the price of items across the board (I’m coming from an AJ perspective). My biggest fear is envato turning into THE App store where prices drove down to $1, or worse free!

I know what bargain basement was but never managed to find it.
Really.

You had to follow the yellow brick … no wait. That’s not right.
You had to click your heels together 3 times while saying “There no price like a bargain”.
I honestly cannot remember where it was located.
I’m seeing a connection between the users ability to find the BB and Envatos evaluation of its effectiveness.
If I remember correctly, it was located under ‘All Files’ as the last selection. I remember looking at it when I joined at the beginning of March and thinking “what, a bargain basement within a bargain basement?”

If you watch the Envato total member number, you’ll realize there are massive amounts of new members coming in all the time. And your assuming that all of these buyers are going to come back on a regular basis. This isn’t how retail businesses work. Lots of buyers become repeat buyers, lots don’t. So you can’t just assume that all 1.5 million members are repeat buyers who’ve memorized the navigation on this site. And I don’t know why you think Envato wouldn’t benefit from promoting top sellers, because that’s kind of just common sense.
It doesn’t need to be rocket science. Featured files are picked by a single person. Top sellers are chosen by thousands. Think of it like a food store. If I personally think sardines are really awesome (and they are
), I’m not going to put them at the register for “impulse buys”. Instead, your going to put top selling candy bars there, and they do.
Also, what’s all that business about “the market shifting overnight”? This isn’t the financial stock market
I’m going to miss activeDen and videohive, when that goes next.

Good move! Now there’s some space for a ‘TOP NEW FILES ’ category in the sub menu of ‘All Files’...
I’ve never even seen the Bargain Basement. Ha.
