Has anyone else had a bad week of sales this week? Last week was my best ever week, this week I haven’t even sold a single song. Its very strange as I’ve been doing loads of promotion in the past 2 weeks.

Yeah don’t worry too much Liam ,I’m having a real slow week also. I’ve noticed slow weeks hit really hard then things pick up. Apart from the top authors i guess we all have slow weeks.

Yes Jc you would be surprised how many clients I’ve gotten just from youtube. One of which led to me writing a cue for a Toyota add in China. EVERYONE uses youtube for all sorts of things, especially music lately. It’s so easy now to type in a genre on youtube and instantly have tons of songs to listen to.

That’s awesome! Very encouraging to hear. I’m a newbie with all this so that’s definetly an area I’ll have to learn about. Learning all the time of course and learning about what will work best for me as a composer as well. So, I guess alot of it in the beginning is a bit trial and error, but That’s what makes it fun too I suppose. Learning as I go I think will be part of the process. So with youtube how are people finding you, just through certain tags ect? I’m pretty good with reverbnation and not too bad at linking up facebook and myspace with reverbnation, but with youtube Im a bit of a nivece. I use it to watch some music videos and get ideas for inspiration, such a wealth of knowledge. Love this site because everyone is so helpful and supportive.

@thesecession – It certainly helps your Youtube profile when you put the words ‘Dark Knight Rises soundtrack, Modern Warfare / Diablo 3 soundtrack’ in your video titles on Youtube even though (unless I’m mistaken) you’re not doing the music for these projects ;) . Slightly misleading if you ask me, but it certainly attracts the viewers and some would say is ingenious marketing as it will get viewers on to your page. Not something I would do, but it clearly works.

As for this week being bad, every author will have good and bad weeks and it’s frustrating to go without sales, but then usually a day comes along and you’ll sell 5 items and an extended license or something. Don’t worry about it, just keep writing good music :)

This week has been “normal”. We have managed to get average of 2 sales per day. Logos truly works to keep steady sales :)

btw. What would be best youtube-marketing way? Put some film stuff with own music but doesnt it get deleted? Or upload some original video footage with music etc?

I’m having my best week in almost 6 months, but that’s probably because one of my items is featured on the homepage :-)

Bingo. Well done!

Hey Scoring Audio Geeks,

If you use video that is copywritten without permission, it is possible your video could be deleted.

You can get creative with youtube videos. I personally will create graphics with AJ logo and my logo with moving text to tell the viewer to click a link in the video description to purchase.

I’ve also used public domain footage to create a music video. I used old sci fi movie footage and pieced a story together. Kind of cheesy, but it makes me laugh to watch it.

Or you can purchase video footage from places like Video Hive etc, and piece together video footage for your videos.

I use Final Cut to finalize the videos, but a basic video editing software could work too.

:)
