For the creation kits on graphic river that let you create characters I have three license questions. Honestly the licenses should be more specific into this kind of thing, they generically write licenses for all the marketplace and then there are items like these where the licensing gets blurry.

1) With the creation kit, can you make more than one usable mascot from the kit, or no? Since it’s a kit, I’m assuming you can?

2) With the creation kit, can you use the mascot(s) created in another item on Envato (without buying the extended license), if it is just the PNG file of the mascot with a background or logo added. Remember I would be distributing the PNG of the mascot, not the PSD , so I am not redistributing an editable copy of the file, therefore I should not need an extended license for this correct?

3) Can the mascots created from one kit be used in multiple Envato items. (Without buying the extended license) I also think the answer should yes as this is a creation kit. It seems ridiculous that I would need to buy the creation kit more than once for multiple products. That’s comparable to Adobe making you buy Photoshop for everything item you make with it, it just doesn’t make sense.

I’m not against extended licenses or anything, but the reason why I oppose buying one is that in this case I’m not redistributing the PSD ’s so I see no reason why I should have to. Second, its a creation kit, it just sounds ridiculous for me to be buying a creation kit multiple times. I feel like an extended license is just plain overkill for my purposes and infact it doesn’t even fit my purposes. Everytime you ask a question like this, the generic answer is going to be purchase and extended license, but like I said the extended license doesn’t really apply to me as I’m not redistributing the PSDs.

I wouldn’t be opposed to a multi-use license but that is never coming, no matter how many times they’ve said it.

This post seems a bit blurred.

But I sort of agree with you on:

1. If you use the KIT for promoting your products on Envato, that might be considered as either a single use, or a Multiple use.

2. If you use the KIT consistently, you may be able to say “This is a single Campaign” – all of my items for myself.

3. If you populate a website with various KIT images, that is probably a single campaign.

I had brought this before in regards to ACTIONS – Can I create 100 items using the same ACTION , if it involves a single project (I would think, YES ).

In finishing; Someone else will come along and clarify, but again – you do have a point here.

Yes, exactly. It’s not just kits, its actions, brushes, shapes??

Graphic River is about the most frustrating marketplace to buy from because the licensing is so confusing. With CodeCanyon and ThemeForest it’s pretty much clear what license you need. Graphics River needs it’s own licensing text.

I hope a staff member sees this and can finally clarify this, but they never answer these license threads as they are not “authorized” to do so. So instead, I may end up infringing on another authors rights.
