Man, what is so expensive ? it’s just a wooden box with two strings attached inside. You can easily build one by yourself

Too late for Chrsitmas, but I also want a “Tenori-On” too : http://musicthing.blogspot.com/2007/10/yamaha-tenori-on-review-many-good.htmlMonomes are so intriguing aren’t they?! No matter what your musical ability is you just want to pick one up and start programming and interacting with it. If you’re looking to get into monomes, Andy, check out this video demonstrating MaxForLive, certainly takes the pain out of setting-up a monome:
The original/genuine monomes are incredibly hard to find, they only make so many at a time. Their latest model, the GrayScale 64 sold out in only two-and-a-half hours! Sometimes they make kits available so you can build your own if you’re desperate to get one:
Does anyone here already have one?
Didn’t know they were called monomes Scott- thanks for the info- very interesting!

I’d rather buy a posh one though Mihai!
I’ve done my share of building homemade instruments already, recently made an acoustic bass, and I have a fretless guitar that I made years ago.
Several weeks ago I went shopping with the band for a Cajon and we paied around 100$ for it, days after, again with the band we went shopping for Christmas gifts (after a concert, with the money from it) and the vocal buy a box, just a simple wooden box for stuff (dunno for what was originally intended but later I bought one for my microphones) and when our drummer seen that and tried how it sounds, he was like:
“WTF ??? so… why did we spent 100$ on my Cajon ?”
The box was less than 10$.
As you might noticed, I’m a fan of cheap/ free solutions

Me too Mihai, I might buy a Cajon kit, or some plans, but I really like the look of this one too:
