Hey guys, first of many posts on here. I own a relatively large membership based (paid) website and as part of the future development of the site, we want a lot of high quality flash work done… So we are looking for a company or a freelancer to do some regular flash related work for us.
In the short term, we are looking for the following project to be done:
New or upgraded flash (mp4) player. Our site plays back high definition videos in the mp4 format to our members. Average file size is about 250mb. These videos are streamed through a content delivery network partner. We have tried two of the most well known commercial flash players in the Flowplayer and the Jw Player. Both of them excel in some areas but dont do everything we want.
So we basically need all the features the JW and Flowplayer would have already… and then we want to have some advanced features. A friend of mine is a member of a poker training website and he brought my attention to their new player… They are in the process of updating their flash player with some quality new features… see here for a brief overview of the new player:
http://www.deucescracked.com/videos/866-Using-the-Flash-Video-Player
So advanced commenting on the videos timeline, linking the video with the commenting section, linking the video with the members landing area/homepage etc.
Now its highly likely, that for the above to be implemented on our site, the developer may need to create a whole new video script for our site… So that may have to be taken into consideration.
We ideally want this to be a project based price and not an hourly rate, because from experience that can go through the roof.
Moving forward, we can get minor jobs done on an hourly rate basis.
The ideal canditate would be a company or individual who is an expert with flash players and video scripts and would be capable of adding advanced features. I have a feature list here and we would work together to create a quality system for the sites members.
Post here or PM me if you are interested.

Hey,
Thats a really cool player, really unique functionality, love it. I personally think, given the source of a player, you could integrate this kind of feature into an existing player, given that it was AS3 .
Could you either PM me or post a full detailed list of features that you are looking for within your new player as well as time & budget constraints. I only have one item here but its an FLV Player that pushes out several features not found elsewhere so i’d be interested in trying to implement the above kind of features into a new (or existing) player…
Regards,
Matt / MSFX

Hey MSFX ,
That is exactly my thinking. I dont think we need a player to be built from the ground up, just a player which we can add a lot functionalilty too.
I am going to put together a full brief tonight and Ill email it onto you tomorrow. I would say 90% of the stuff we want is already present on players like the:
Jw player http://www.longtailvideo.com/players/jw-flv-player/
Flowplayer http://flowplayer.org/
Media Scripts Ultimate Media Player http://www.mediascripts.com/addons.html
I am presuming it would be just a case of breaking down the swf file of the above players to see what they have in place?
I would imagine we are going to need a new video script to go with this new player. We have looked into stuff like Brightcove and video management platforms like that. But they are too expensive and have features we do not need. On the other end of the spectrum, the media/video scripts you can pick up for $100 – $200 are too limited and are very hard to develop….

The problem with these is that you dont (as far as i’m aware) have the source for the player, only the published SWF . Send me an email tomorrow and i’ll see what I can do

Sorry Matt! I’ll have to get into the opportunity of working at this project as well, since we have very competitive prices, and definitely a lot of experience with Flash Video Players.
Owen, I had to write that first since I don’t want to get the man’s food off the table and say nothing.
Please contact me by email so I can send you some links. We worked with big clients such as LiveCast and ExpoTV + many more.
I lead a team of 5 creatives, me being the CEO and Senior Flash Developer at Vuzum. I’d like to discuss more in depth about this project, so please get in touch with me when you read this.
Thanks!
Thank you for your interest Bobocel.. I will send you on an email tomorrow.

Actually I posted here first.
Emails sent to both MSFX and bobocel. If there is anyone else on here interested in this project, please let me know now and I will send you on the brief for review.
MSFX saidWhat do it reflect? Can i have a wonerful mp4 player for my car? Is it supposed to accept that format?
