Hello guys, I’m working on a new AE project that is visually simple as regards the amount of elements and use of plugins. Basically placeholders are distributed in 3D space with use of DOF ( I think that’s the point of my problem, DOF ) My Render time in FullHD is around 16 hours! My project has length of 2:30. I saw some other projects that have render time around 10/12 hours. But 16 I don’t saw before. It is no surprise to me this render time, many of you maybe have already done any work take longer than that. But the buyers understand this time? Do you think this a viable project with this render time?
In time, my computer is a core i7 860 with 8GB RAM NVidia Geforce GTS 250 .

You could always try to fake the DOF with some blur fx via masks etc, if it is a viable time investmentIt should speed up render times significantly.
I have used these resources many times depending on the situation. But when we have an inclined camera, showing several different plans. Nothing replaces the real DOF !

Nothing replaces real DOF and I feel your problem. Believe me, there is no solution for this. CS5 is faster though…

17 hours of rendering is my record with shadowcasting and DOF .
