That’s right, I need a laptop and yes I am going to get a macbook pro. I’ve looked at all other brands over the course of a few months and I haven’t seen anything that could match a macbook pro. Plus they dropped in price.
Here’s my problem though, is the 17” mbp really worth the extra bucks? I’ll be using this machine as my main workstation freelancing, because I’ll be mobile most of the time, so I need screen size. However I’ll be at home quite often and I was considering the 15” + 24” screen.
Any thoughts?
yep, thats what i’m going for. Absolutely fenominal machines! I would buy one just to put on my wall. Aesthetically the best looking things ever.
Ill buy one if I win the 3.5k comp
It’s great Apple made all their macbooks pros now, and 4GB or RAM minimum is perfect.
Ill proberly get a 15” because thats big enough for good mobile use and I wont feel confined. So when im at home I can go dual with my 22” monitor im using atm. Seems like a good compromise and will save me a few bucks! However I am digging the two graphics cards they’ve kitted the 17” out with.
Dream machine!
I would recommend a 15”... sure the 17” has bigger screen real estate, but it is so much more to haul around.
I’ve had both… got a 15” back in 2008 and just recently sold it to get a new 17”. Couldn’t stand the smaller resolution on the 15” – it never felt like it could truly stand by itself without hooking up a higher resolution screen to it. The 1920×1200 on the 17” has been completely worth the slightly larger size and weight.
Now if the majority of the time you’re going to be hooked up to 24”, then yeah, no worries. But if you’re going to want it to stand by itself a lot, then I’d be leery of the smaller resolution of the 15”.
And yes, Mac is the way to go. I was a Windows user for 15 years, then I decided to try switching about three years ago when they made the switch to Intel. I have never looked back sense – better built and better OS – hands down. And don’t get me wrong, I still use Windows for our servers (actually don’t mind their server products) but for everyday use, it’s all Mac for me.
Just my two cents on what I’ve experienced! Either way, you’re getting a new Macbook Pro!

I recommend the 15 inch macbook pro, not to small, not too big, just perfect in my opinion. I’ve just finished to play with one and all I can say is : beauty & brawn in 2.5 kg
L.E. : And full aluminium case
If you have the $$$ go for the 17” but if you have to wait a while the 15 in my experence is really not that bad

I used to use a 17” but hauling it around all the time annoyed me too much. When it came time to upgrade I actually went all the way down to 13” as the only time I really need lots of screen real estate it’s connected to an external screen. Unless you’ll have to use it with an external screen all the time, I’d definitely go the 15”.
Either way you’re going to love it though, enjoy your new mac!

I bought a 15” MBP Unibody a couple of weeks ago, and it was good. But they updated it a few days after, so I sent it back, and I’ll be buying the new 15” upgraded model.
Its great, really high spec, and well priced.
Another thing. 320 or 500gb. 500 sounds nice…but it seems a bit obselete. I have a 320 external HDD , though a bit bulky. Basically, I can either downgrade to 320gb @ 7200 rpm and save 50 usd to upgrade to 500 gb at 7200 rpm and lose another 50.
