Wow, this is so exciting! I’ve been watching Mr.Kittinger’s videos in awe for the several past few years. I had absolutely no idea someone was going to try to break his record.
Now, this is just great! I find it very useful. Still waiting for that “cha-ching” sound though!
The question though is not if we love this place, im sure we all do, the question that arises more and more these days on the forums is if this place still loves us.
I remember when i joined a year ago it felt like joining a family, envato had a great balance between keeping the authors as well as buyers happy and making money for themselves.
Recently, and judging from the amount of critical threads popping up im not alone with this, it feels like we authors are taken for granted (we are now 16 days over the promised price increase news – i know there was the conference, but not even a comment since then, except the hint at the conference, is just sad and shows how much we are valued currently.), customers are pretty unhappy with the service (the amount of threads complaining about tickets not answered for a week is not a good sign) and the only thing still in balance is the part where envato makes money.
It somewhat feels like the marketplaces outgrew themselves and no steps are taken to keep up with the growth and restore a healthy balance for all three parties involved. So, because i in fact do love this place, please envato, get your priorities straight and for the love of god improve your communication.
You read my mind, sir.
onioneye saidThanks for the report! And the public ticket/forum hybrid concept above everything else is our top priority right now. This is going to be something new. Not a forum, but not just a private ticketing system either. We want to get it right and do it well, so stay tuned!
I think you would hit the jackpot, if you converted this into a forum-like app because as of now, I don’t see a lot of advantages of using Ticksy, over ThemeForest’s comments section. By the way, I’m pretty sure I saw a PHP error on the site yesterday, when I was logging in via twitter, or something like that. It just flashed in the top-left corner of the browser window (Google Chrome), and then quickly disappeared.
You are very much welcome. Thanks for replying back!
I had a plan to hire someone to build a forum for me, in order to avoid having being asked the same questions over and over again, but Ticksy made me change my mind, so I’m most definitely staying tuned. I’m sure this is the case with countless of other authors out here because everybody is complaining about the comment system, so that’s why I’m convinced you would hit the jackpot, if you converted Ticksy to a forum-like app, or something along those lines.

Sucuri (http://sucuri.net/), which is the best malware detection tool I found on the web, when my site was infected some half a year ago, due to the infamous TimThumb issue, didn’t report anything, so I guess it’s safe to say that your WordPress is malware-free. Here are the results, by the way: http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/http://theme.hellominti.com/elogix/
Also, my anti-virus software (McAfee), didn’t block the theme, when I was trying to visit it, and it usually does that, when I’m about to land on an infected site, leading me to believe that your theme is fine.
Hope this will be of some help to you, fellow ThemeForester.
All the best,
This sounds like good news. There’s no doubt every item could do with with a price bump – great stuff if it is indeed happening – but I do hope authors don’t have to include teleporters in every theme to justify a higher price. By teleporters of course I mean 635 shortcodes, 45 sliders, 675 theme options, 24 portfolio layouts, kitchen sinks and their granny.
Pricing, and therefore competition, based on feature count sounds a bit pants, so I’m sure authors would be disappointed to see it go that route – I know I would.Still think you should allow authors to set their own prices, within a bracket which you define perhaps. We’re all grown folk around here, sometimes.
Ditto. I don’t want to bloat my themes with unnecessary code/features, that my clients don’t actually need, just to get a higher price on my items. That would totally and utterly suck.
“Keep it simple, stupid!” principle is the one I currently abide, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
$39 certainly seems like a good idea. Would be cool though if we got someone from Envato commenting on this thread.
Hi there, fellow ThemeForesters!
I specialize in building WordPress portfolio themes, and I’m currently in the process of building a very clean and responsive theme, but I suddenly decided I’m going to take a step back, and take things slowly this time around. The thing is, I’m building themes for you guys, so I would like to know what exactly you are looking for, when buying a WordPress theme, in order for me to build one that matches your wants and needs perfectly.
The following are just some of the things I’m interested in knowing, but any information you are willing to provide at all is definitely going to help me build a better product, so know that it is appreciated. That being said, here are the things I’m willing to know: do you ever use sidebars with your portfolio sites? What kind of work do you showcase (photography, graphic design etc.)? What are the average and preferred dimensions of the media (images, videos, etc.) in your items (700 * 400, for example)? What is the average amount of portfolio items you like to showcase on your site? What would you prefer for the portfolio pagination? Something like a “Load More” button? Also, do you prefer having social sharing buttons for Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and other sites, so your users can easily share the items?
Appreciate any input you are willing to provide! Oh, and please feel free to discuss things that I didn’t mention because everything you say is going to help me build a better theme for you guys.
I just replied to your email sent some 17 hours ago. Please check it out.
By the way, please be aware that I provide support every day of the week, but that it takes up to 24 hours (48 hours sometimes, but very rarely) for me to reply to a single email, given the hefty amount of support inquiries I get every day.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
