Short and truth answer: It sucks. Rainbows? C’mon.
Kind answer, you need to work harder, first develop those design skills more, then after you get good at what you do, think about taking profits.
An engineer doesn’t start making money when he/she is on the college, it takes them years to get some degree of knowledge to finally get some cash/work. Design is obviously a different discipline, but it’s a serious business, and one that needs careful attention and deep dedication.
I think the 60/40 is a good split taking in consideration that the Web Designer is great at what he/she does. Creating an entirely new concept out of their heads and designing the theme. So, for that, a 40% share.
The Web Developer has to develop the theme, he/she might use code from previous work (maybe a framework?) as well (thus, simplifying the whole process), or not. He/she also has to give support to a ton of angry and mad customers.
(there are good ones too hehe). 60% for the headaches.
Basically.
Web Designer: 40% (Concept, Design) Web Developer: 60% (Development, Support)
@Joost, I actually think it is the opposite. Windows 7 is MORE secure than OSX .
What we need to see is, things, in proportional things.
Imagine that OSX had the same amount of malware that is currently available for Windows 7, and the same user base.
I would bet that OSX would be more affected than Windows 7. I can proudly say that since I moved to Windows 7 in 2009 I have never had a single malware running, on my desktop and laptop.
I am indeed a cautious user, but I remember being the same cautious user when I used Windows XP and it was a nightmare, once in a while some malware entered my machine.
What I want to say is that, Windows changed A LOT . And a lot of people had bad experiences, thus, the OS earned a bad reputation related with virus, and other kind of malware.
Regarding BSOD ’s and other “shitty” excuses to not use a Windows based PC.
From first hand experience, dealing with some friends computers, I’ve learnt that most BSOD ’s are caused by hardware failures, mainly:
- Cheap Power Supplies; (not enough protections, not enough power delivery); - High Temperatures caused by accumulated dust;
The other ones are mostly caused by faulty software being installed by the user itself.
If people were reasonable and understood the minimum about how to deal with a computer, these “issues” wouldn’t happen 90% of the time.
My last BSOD ? I can’t even remember. But it was most likely way back into 2004.
Stylius saidThat Sara Carbonero is so hot!!!
Sara Carbonero (journalist) interviewing her boyfriend, Iker Casillas: “Would you like to see the happiness of Spain though a little hole?” Through a little hole!? Are you crazy?! you’re live!!!There was no kiss this time.

Damn!
Anyway, congrats Spain!
School is important. Seeing back then I didn’t realise how much I have learnt in school. Not talking only about the subjects lectured there. But it really depends on what exactly you’re learning.
Web Design/Web Development can be learnt at home, you can work as a freelancer as well, but it is important to jump into a “in the field” job position to gather some working experience.
A degree in college won’t help if you won’t have the initiative to learn additional stuff at home as well, people need to realise that in this industry, portfolio is killer.
CodingJack saidI guess that in the end it doesn’t matter as most people don’t have the “eye” to distinguish those small details.
PixelBin saidI still don’t get it. I understand the screen might be sharper, but how is it “2x” if the same number of pixels per square inch are being used? I honestly couldn’t see any difference in the sites I viewed. But maybe I just didn’t view enough sites.
Still 1024×768 but the level of detail in typography, @2x images and CSS3 effects is twice as sharp and clear.
I’ve never seen a retina display before, but I guess that in theory typography, detailed UI elements will look a lot better while keeping the same “physical space” (x2 per inch).
Vasterad saidYou will have to deal with them as well in here, if you’re going to provide support.
I’m going to be full time author, because making templates is better than clients if you know what i mean.Actually I’m working with friendly developers on WordPress versions of my themes.
Just High School…
Italy deserved the WIN ! And what a WIN !
I will be with Italy in the finals. Not because Spain won yesterday, no, it’s just because I’m tired of seeing Germany and Spain to go to the finals, and seeing Italy win, would make me happy. And they would deserve to win as much as Spain.
I would love to see a final with Portugal and Italy, just to shut up Platini mouth.

There was no kiss this time.
