Just read the latest note by envato concerning this problem and if thats “it” what we waited for weeks now, i couldn’t be more disappointed.
Mostly embarrasing in this context is the term “protect YOUR files”...even if this is legaly correct- concerning the copyright – it feels totaly wrong in this topic…. i think we should be talking about “OUR” Files, since GR has the right of distribution and gets its cut from every sale. And obviously the protection of distribution is the problem.
My last hope is, that this latest note is just a short feedback before a more detailed comment of envato is published in a few days….otherwise it would be to clear, that no one really cares as long as enough new authors throw their work in the hole.
don’t get me wrong…i used to love gr and all the other envato marketplaces, held them in high regard for their fairness and great community, but nowadays it’s really hard not to feel used and left alone…
Hm… The solution is obvious: sell every item for at least 150$, then make it cheaper each time it is sold and give a refund to any prior customer until wereach the known pricerange… so we authors get covered our basic costs and can let go this awfull problem…. Plus: potential buyers could get together in a kind of graphic-carpool and commit to buy an item if a certain amount of potential buyers is reached… I know, that this idea might not be very realistic, but we need to stop complaining the unchangeable (have a look at the movie- and musicindustry) and start to think more out of the box
Just my 2cents
Instead of envato look after their income and protect it the bother to make new badges and new topics bars in the forums like we 13 years old and we care about new badges in the current situation! First comes the protection of your main income and then comes the rest! Truth hurts and harsh words are said but understand our frustration and disappointment when we see our sales dropping and give our “work away” in a matter! Besides we are the ones giving envato money and power to move forward with our designs, promotion and referrals! We dont say Envato can wipe out the problem but at least the obvious can be solved i mean the 1 or 2 sales problem because is so clear who is doing this! Sorry for the long talk and harsh words but some people are depending from the income here if we consider the economy right now!
well spoken, hotpin! I totally agree….
I am sick and tired of this situation and you know what i mean….i decided not to upload any more items till this situation gets a rest or the envato stuff give some answers to us! We deserve it as we are the income for them am i right? I dont think i am over reacting as this is my right to be pissed and to demand some answeers as i give them my time, my designs and half of the money!
I dont want to be aggressive but this situation is to annoying and support put our tickets to medium priority for this matter as is a high priority in my opinion!Sorry if i insulted anyone but this is the harsh truth of the situation!
Just my thoughts! Thank you, Hotpin!
Hope for some reaction from envato…
good to be informed…thanks a lot.
first i have to say that i don’t understand the rejection of your printshop….higher resolutions shouldn’t be a problem. But if you wan’t to deliver a 300dpi file you could ask whether they would accept a pdf X3-File. In Illustrator you can save files as PDF X3 -Files. in the save-dialogue you can define the output resolution. this should do the trick…
