You can use CHROME built-in Developer tool to do that and it works fine.i’m using JSON … and build-in developer tool … doesn’t show me the return value of a specific request![]()
I found the same, so I installed the FireBug and it worked just like the Firefox version… not sure which version you’re referring to with the ‘lite’ thing.
Firebug is actually available for Chrome too 
There is a jQuery function for toggling, http://api.jquery.com/toggle/ – this might be something you’ve overlooked perhaps?

There is simply no need to store some sort of serialized array, this is a simple case of just using bitwise operations (particularly the & operation.)
I think this is a good, and very simple, way to implement a binary private/public permission system.
This is a very common thing to do, I’ve had great success with NextGEN Gallery for Wordpress. Give it a try, there are many plugins for Wordpress to do this all for you.
