Personal opinion: It doesn’t make a difference

Yes I’m an audiojungle author but have used themeforest and videohive templates for my own projects before.

Videohive: Black Classic 3D Logo. Well built yet ‘simple’ and universal looking, with a corporate feel suitable for the bundle.

From now on I’ll be cutting off the silent part at the start of the mp3 preview and the mp3 track, especially if it’s a logo track that has detailed impacts and hits and logo reveal sounds in it. I guess it’s worth taking the extra 1min to do this.

Just out of curiosity, but how you want to do this? I may totally live behind the moon regarding this since I never used to edit an mp3 and I am seriously curious about it, but which software lets you edit an mp3 file? As far as I know every (at least professional software) lets you of course import mp3s but it would be always converted to wav or aif files?!

Even if it lets you edit the mp3 file, wouldn’t the temp file be a wav/aif and convert it back, result in actually adding the silence again? :)

Hehe, you are right. I’m speechless at the lack of thinking I’ve shown today. Not my day.

Yes, not sure if there’s a software that does this without adding a bit of silence – I would have used Ableton so I would have realized this at the process, but just wrote it down on theory now so I didn’t think it through clearly.

I know that Audacity has an mp3 encoder that you can install to export straight to mp3, but I haven’t tried it yet and I guess it’ll be adding the silence as well due to the compression.

I’ve tested some of my uploads, that’s exactly what’s happening. Fortunately there are .wav files inside and that’s what the buyers should be using at all times, but the preview has to be .mp3…

If it’s a logo track that has detailed impacts and hits and logo reveal sounds in it, I’ll probably edit the preview myself since lots of videohive authors and it would be more conenivent, so I guess it’s worth taking the extra 1min to do this. Otherwise if it’s a full track I don’t know if it’s that important.

Does anyone know how to change the profile name? When I chose my name I was in lack of inspiration, and I thought you can easily change the name. And I think I was a little ancious to finish making my profile. If it is possible to make this change, I would preffer making it before any of my tracks get approved. Thank you

They’ll tell you at support@envato.com if that can be done. Good luck!

Unfortunately solution 2 would make editing impossible. That’s why we state ‘bpm tempo’ in the upload form, so that people can edit the tracks within an audio grid. But I guess it’s a 50-50 situation, I understand what you’re saying.
oh okay I didn’t know that.

To be more precise though, what I’m saying is more applicable to full length tracks. So maybe about logo sounds it makes more sense what you’re saying because after all they don’t necessarily fit to a certain bpm! I’ll definitely check that out in my next logo sound upload, thanks for informing us Creattive.

I know this is happening, I’ve heard it before from videohive authors. So here’s my input:

So, PLEASE audiojunglers, take care that your preview is 100% in sync with your actual file, so that customers of our animation and your sounds can just drag and drop them into the timeline.
Important: Most of us make our preview file just by enabling/disabling an additional audio channel/track, which includes the preview voice/watermark. So it should be perfectly in sync.

So in my opinion, it’s either the probable re-encoding that happens when you upload it in audiojungle (the preview file changes name to preview.mp3 for example, I’m not sure if this is the only alteration happening to the file automatically by audiojungle’s back-end system), OR it’s the wav to mp3 thing you guys are referring to in the comments.

Most producers work within tempo grids, so it’s really difficult to accidentally export the preview file between different markers.

I find it very disheartening that this happens and it has put me to worry and I’d love to see it being solved, so keep this thread going guys..!
