I use Windows, and don’t have access to any Macs, so I can’t test it on Safari. I’m sorry to hear it crashes it, but I have no way of troubleshooting it.

Well its light-years ahead of IE 9 and (almost) catches up to other major browsers in HTML5 support so, yes, definitely.
There is TrashCan.. but it wont work if you deleted the product already 
Would have suggested something like mysqldump --databases X --tables Y --where="product_id = 1" but since Magento has a complex database architecture, product info is spread across many tables. So its only going to introduce more problems.
