Congratulation, Microlancer Team for the open beta. We’re happy being involved in it. Thanks.BTW, some questions:
- Is there any chance in the future for referral / affiliate program (like other marketplace) so service providers can get additional revenue by driving their own clients to Microlancer ? (I mean like using Microlancer’s service & technology as mediator of their own projects with their own clients)
- Is there any written legal agreement that bound clients so they are not allowed to modify and re-sell service provider’s work ?
- Will service provider’s sales counted / accumulated with sales on other Envato marketplace (to define commision percentage and paw badges) ?
Thanks
Great questions!
1) We’re not ready to announce any kind of referral or affiliate program at the moment, it’s possible but we’re still in early days.
2) Buyers will be prohibited from reselling things which always remain your IP, such as a template you used to provide a service for them. However, there are many (legitimate) reasons a buyer might employ your services and then want to modify or resell the outcome of those services, and it is allowed. Remember, with Microlancer you are selling your time and are fulfilling a brief from a client. In most cases they will fully own what you create for them. It might help to read our FAQ on this (Can buyers of services resell the work that a service provider does for them (for instance, resell as stock)? Can a service provider resell work they do for buyers?). http://www.microlancer.com/faq
3) not yet. Maybe in the future but as I said, we’re still early days

Personally, it took me a couple of weeks to adjust, but I really love it now!

Microlancer allows those interested in digital creative services like logo design or photo retouching to easily connect with freelancers who have these skills. By creating a platform which allows freelancers to operate their own virtual store-front and to spell out all of the terms of their service upfront to customers, we are taking a different approach to the model used on many other freelance marketplaces.
The focus of the site is to make everything easier for both the buyer and freelancer. A buyer knows everything that they will get upfront, things like how much a service costs and how many revisions they will get. The freelancer doesn’t have to bid for jobs or actively compete against other freelancers for the same job – instead, buyers choose who they want to work with directly based on their service offering. Collis (Envato’s CEO) explained it this way:
Freelance marketplaces are a billion dollar industry, but current sites are virtually all based on the premise of quoting for a job. It’s like going to a hairdresser and having them bid and quote on your particular hair. Some types of service work are better done with fixed price, fixed services. We’re bringing that mindset to creative / tech freelancing. We launched Microlancer in a private Beta just over a month ago and the feedback we received from our users during that stage has been instrumental in helping us get the site ready for this open Beta – so a big thank you from all of us on the Microlancer team to everyone who has participated and provided us with feedback! We intend to continue with this demand-driven development after the public launch and ongoing. A big focus in the coming months for the team will be deciding which creative fields to expand into after launch, a choice which will be largely guided by what our buyers and service providers are asking for (video based services are looking to be a hot contender for an area we’ll be moving into soon!).
Microlancer is available now for everyone to use in public Beta. Currently we are focusing on services in the creative and graphic design categories, but we’re looking to rapidly expand this offering. If you’re interested in selling creative services on Microlancer, you can register your interest in becoming a service provider.
Want to explore the services available right now? Take a look at what our service providers can do for you!

Guys; what is the perfect image size for uploading in Microlancer ? Anyone knows ?
Hey man! There isn’t really a ‘perfect’ size, generally speaking the larger the better. We’ve been recommending 500×500 at this stage. Also re: your login problems. If you’ve already been accepted as a provider (by receiving an invite from us via email) the only thing you still might need to do is accept our terms and conditions, just login to Microlancer as you have been, then visit this page: www.microlancer.com/become-a-provider (this page will only load for you if you’ve been invited to the site by us and you’re logged in). If you still have issues, think you could get in touch with me directly?

I have stupid question about turnarounds and world time. I am not familiar with exact sciences like high mathematics or relativity theory, for example I set my turnaround to 1 day, and let’s say my local time is +2 UTC and my customer is -11 UTC. Is this situation when I lose half of my turnaround time?
Turnaround time is based on hours, 1 day = 24 hours and so on. The time starts ticking from the moment the SP accepts a job and resets whenever a valid revision request is submitted.

harmonikas996 saidYou can leave tax field blank. But one more question – why I necessarily need to choose country and city if I don’t want to share this info with anybody except my customers for example?
Why I need to have Tax number? I do not have company…![]()
Part of the Microlancer promise to buyers is that everything is upfront for them, this includes the service providers location. This broad information is useful for buyers when determining which service provider will be in their time zone for instance.

That tax identifier number field is actually personal to you in most cases, it is the identifier your local government would use to track your individual tax details. In any case, the field is optional

Everything is really-really wierd! Is signed up for the pre-beta to list my services. I tried to create services on numerous occasions, but the system didn’t let me. I sent bug/error pictures with description to support and haven’t heard nothing from them. Now the site is in beta, I log in and I can’t create any new services nor cannot I see my account via /users/kriskorn. I hope someone can explain this a bit and maybe I can then also set up my services.
Thank you,
Kris
Hey Kris! Sorry to hear about the issues you encountered
Our development manager, Sebastian just let me know he had replied to your initial email, maybe there was some kind of problem with it going into spam (as that happened to quite a few people before we made some changes to how our support system sent email). But I believe he has followed up with you again just recently to make sure you’re getting looked after

May I ask (sorry if this has been answered before but the thread it massive) is the balance connected with our accounts, e.g. If I deposit 50 USD on CodeCanyon and then take a look at Microlancer can I then spend that money on there?
Not at this stage, though shared balances is something we would like to see for Envato sites in the future. But it’s a while off for now, I believe the logistics involved are pretty tremendous!
