Let me start off by giving some background on myself as it’s relevant to the topic. I am a independent contractor for a telecommunications company, my work day consists of going to customers houses that I am issued paper work orders for and performing the work contracted to me. I am tired of using pen and paper to keep track of my work and lugging my laptop around to enter information into an Excel spreadsheet is rather cumbersome.
I have an Android 3.2 Honeycomb tablet that I would like to utilize to keep track of each job I go to and the work performed there. I have some technical background and already have a server setup in a local data center for use in the project.
The basics of what I would need are outlined below, the details we can discuss more in e-mail as I prefer not to disclose too much information about my job.
-Login credentials at app start-up
-Menu items: three for data entry and two for displaying data from server
-Data entry consists of work order details only, no payment processing or image capturing
-GPS aware functionality, as long as I am logged into the app, I would like my GPS location data sent to the database server at a set interval (every 15 minutes for example)
-Database needs to be mySQL
