There are plenty of existing free XML editors out there if you look for them.

PHP and XML have very different purposes so I’m not sure why you would suggest that PHP should or even could replace XML . I also disagree that XML is difficult for newbies – anyone can pick it up in a few minutes. PHP is a lot harder to learn and use.

You can achieve this easily in AS3 . I would imagine you can do it in AS2 as well.
