Hey! Sorry for the late response. I’m glad you find this interesting :] It looks like I’m giving up on hyperlinking since people tend to miss it. Since we’re “officially” announcing in 10 minutes, I might as well just do it now here while I’m at it.

oh… 3DOcean is not very visible from Google searches yet either, as there are a lot of long established competitors out there. Do your bit to improve this by linking to the site from your own website.

I agree … too bad i googled now… i found a single result on the 3rd page … we need better advertising i think .

( i am not grumblling, but i think that 60% off our sales is enough to launch a better advertising campaign… )

Well that would be complete dishonesty to tweak renders in PS.

Your note is a good one … But generally, the mesh topology plays a minor role on the render itself.

Note taken I also urge all authors to take this into consideration.

Hey everyone, long time user and first time poster here.

I am a professional 3d modeler and graphic designer who’s been in the business a long time, so I have alot of experience when it comes to this area… what I can tell you about 3docean is this:

1. There is a lot of stiff competition with sites like Turbosquid, The 3D studio… you really have to work hard getting noticed in this industry.

2. 3D modellers hate being told they have to be exclusive or else be penalized and make only 25% from their sales… your not going to get the pros with lots of quality models at that rate. One of the main reasons why I havent uploaded any of my A+ work here.

3. Even being exclusive, you start at only 40% commission where other sites that have proven sales records start you at 60%. How is that Envato makes more money from the sale of your media than you do?

4. The prices on here might work for the buyers, but modelers don’t want to sell their quality models for that cheap.

5. Overall the 3D industry is a hard one to break into and it’s going to take more time to bring onboard established contributors that are going to add more to the marketplace than simple HDRI images (no offense)

I agree, models are of good price for buyers … that is attractive for buyers

But the commission rates !!! ...that is SO unattractive to AUTHORS … the motors of the marketplace …

If envato could make an exception for 3do …
